The Role of UKS Switches in Elevators

UKS switches play a crucial role in elevator safety protection. Commonly known as elevator travel and limit switches, they monitor the elevator's operating status and ensure it operates within safe limits. The following are some of the key functions of UKS switches in elevators:

1. Travel and Limit Protection

UKS switches monitor the elevator car's travel to ensure it stays within the designated track. When the elevator reaches the preset upper and lower limits, the UKS switches trigger, stopping the elevator from running further, thus preventing it from overrunning the track or falling.

2. Part of the Safety Circuit

In an elevator's safety system, UKS switches, along with other safety switches (such as speed limiters and buffer switches), form a safety circuit. The elevator can only operate when all safety switches are functioning properly. If any safety switch malfunctions, the elevator will immediately stop to ensure passenger safety.

3. Controlling the Start and Stop of an Elevator

UKS switches also control the start and stop of an elevator. Before starting, the UKS switches check that the elevator is in the correct position, ensuring the doors are closed and clear of obstructions. If an abnormal condition, such as overspeed or loss of control, is detected during elevator operation, the UKS switch immediately triggers, forcing the elevator to stop.
